Today we are happy to present Taja Spasskova is a visual artist living and working in Prague, Czech Republic.
She was born in 1990 in Grodno, Belarus. In 2011 she relocated to the Czech Republic, where she studied at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. Her practice focuses on projects regarding social and spiritual issues.Her research is driven by the need to explore topics connected to her personal experience, such as transcendence, consciousness and self.
In addition, a recurring subject of her work is re-opening the questions of religion, identity and intimacy.
Spasskova is working in the field of comercial fashion photography and art direction. She is cooperating with several magazines, designers and brands on a variety of creative projects.
Spasskova was awarded the Art Prize CBM Premia Carlo Bonatto Minella, Turin, in 2016, and in 2013 won the Forum Czech Republic – Bavaria competition, Pilsen – Regensburg. In 2015, FOTO magazine featured her in the category of Young Talent.
Her work has been shown in the following exhibitions: DOX, group exhibition at the Prague Photo 2015 photography festival; INTERBIFEP – International Biennial Festival of Portrait, Tuzla; group exhibition at the Signal festival, Košice.

Q&A with the artist
How did you get into photography?
I was drawing since my childhood and after studied arts in college when I was a teenager.
On the 2 second year of the study I bought my first camera and everything began.
What inspires you most?
Nature and light.
Do you prefer shooting digitally or on film?
I like both, but the last year I’m mostly shooting on film
